Vote “YES” in May Venue Tax Election
T.J. Connolly
This May, voters will be invited back to the polls. After achieving record turnout in the March Democratic and Republican primaries, some political operatives are worried that folks will be reluctant to come out for May’s special Venue Tax election. I disagree. I believe people will turnout because the venue tax continuation will have a great impact on San Antonio’s future.
From $125 million for further San Antonio River redevelopment, to $75 million in needed upgrades at the AT&T Center, these projects are important.
Included in the list of projects are $100 million to renovate and historic Municipal Auditorium into a state-of-the-art performing arts center. Additional investments will be put into the aging Joe & Harry Freeman Coliseum. And the much-heralded investment of tens of millions into the citywide soccer field program businessman and philanthropist Gordon Hartman has been advocating for nearly two years. This election is important.
Early voting will get underway in mid-April.
Please take the time to vote.
The projects, the election, are important to our City’s future.
